After an hugely successful test market launch in Phoenix and excellent focus group findings, Zhu Zhu Pets are among the top toys of 2009. The reasons include their ability to be interactive due to their artificial intelligence.
As soon as you open the box, you will hear your zhu zhu pet making sounds. Each has around 40 different sounds, which they can adapt to their habitat: in the bathroom, you will hear the sound of brushing teeth, and in their bedroom, sleeping sounds.
The toy hamsters have 2 play modes, adventure mode and nurturing mode.
In adventure mode, the toy hamsters zip around their habitat. You hear and see them respond to various stimuli, spinning, zipping, and bumping into things (oops!).

The best advice after opening the box is to let your zhu zhu hamster explore a bit. When you are ready to interact, you have several options.
Touch its nose. It will talk. If it is already zipping around,it may think it bumped something and will back away and head off in another direction.
If you want your hamster to slow down, pat its back. If it is in a quiet mode, a pat on the back will send it exploring.
To cuddle your hamster, pet it right behind the ears; it will be happy, coo and chatter until it finally sleeps.
If your child wants to sleep with their pet hamster, remove the batteries for the night. Zhu zhu pets have their own sleeping habitat and ideally should sleep in it. Don't use on carpet, sand, wet surfaces, or grass. They need smooth surfaces.
Caution: keep away from hair, and keep fingers away from the wheels. If hair gets entangled, grab the wheel firmly to stop it, and unwind the hair.
Not recommended for children under 4.
